Yoshinkan Aikido is the only style of Aikido taught to the women on the
Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force because its effectiveness is based on timing and
technique, not strength.
Aikido therefore
enables a woman to defend herself against an attack by a larger person. As in any martial
art, diligent training leads to proficiency.
